Violent protests broke out overnight, after a black man was killed by police in charlotte, North Carolina. Dozens of demonstrators took to the streets in the northeast section of the city not far from a college campus. Police were injured in the clashes. Local reports say protesters threw rocks at cars on an interstate and a stretch of the highway was closed. Hen aa daniels is here with more. Relatives of Keith Lamont Scott say he was shot by officers while reading a book inside his car. But Police Maintain he had a gun. Earlier today, we learned that the man arrested in the weekend bombings in new york city and seaside park, new jersey, had been at one time on the f. B. I. s radar. A senior Law Enforcement official tells cbs news that rahamis father, mohammed, called his son a terrorist during a heated argument at the familys new jersey home, so heated that police were called to the house. Some parts of northeast iowa saw rain again this morning and state leaders now are trying to get more money to help the areas hit hard by last months flooding. Flooding. Governor Terry Branstad has requested a federal disaster declaration for eight counties from president obama. Its not clear when the white house will announce the president s decisi. Congressional delegation has reached out to the president urging him to act quickly. State assistance is available to anyone trying to repair damage from the flood waters. A developing story overnight police in Charlotte North Carolina say at least 12 of their officers were injured during protests after another Deadly Police shooting of a black man. One of those officers was hit in the face with a rock. Protesters were shown breaking the windows of a Police Vehicle and destroying other demonstrators started throwing rocks at their van too.
