There s some hope : Sask expands age range eligibility for autism funding

PRINCE ALBERT Saskatoon advocates are praising the provincial government’s decision to expand funding for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The province’s 2021-22 budget includes an extra $6 million in autism funding. Children between the ages of six and 11 are now eligible to receive $6,000 a year for autism treatment – that’s in addition to children zero to six years old who can already receive $8,000 annually. Shannon Hill is a behaviour analyst for youth with autism and other developmental disabilities. She also has a 19-year-old son with autism. She said she’s happy to see the government expand the age range.
