Due to divorce or domestic violence. Now live to the floor of the house here on cspan. News. And make known the redeeming proclamation of your love for us and your plans for our good and not our harm. Preserve the welfare of countries and communities around the world from the disasters threatening them. Particularly on this day we pray for the people of puerto rico and the caribbean as once again they battle the devastation inflicted on them by damaging winds and raging seas. Grant us redemption from all that seeks to distance us from your love and dis disdistract us from faith in you. Restore our relationship with you that by your mercy we will all be welcomed once again into your email brace. Lord, are you the ruler of the universe. We appeal to you this day that your saving hand would hold and protect your people. Renewed in your name we pray. Amen. The speaker the chair has examined the journal of the last days proceedings and announces to the house his approval thereof. Pursuant t
Desperation of the abuses they suffered at the hands of the chinese government. If it was not for this commission, nobody would know how the buddhists are being persecuted in tibet. In short, the commission has been and with passage of this legislation will continue to be the voice of the marginalized, oppressed and persecuted people who dare to worship, who dare to worship, according to the dictates of their conscience. The commission can be relied upon to consistently give the unvarnished truth, as mr. Smith said, about the true religious freedom in countries around the globe, whether they are strategic allies or adversaries. The commission is unhindered by the bureaucratic mores a that stymied the state department during democratic and republican administrations alike. Given the state of religious Freedom Abroad today, the sobering reality is that the commissions voice is as needed more now than ever before. I urge unanimous passage of this and yield back the balance of my time. The
Frankly, most importantly, we can all agree coming to some agreement in a reasonable time frame is probably the most important thing this committee can do to help grow our economy. And doing it on a timeline that allows the Appropriation Committee to deliver a result without shutting down the government or putting it at any risk is about the best thing we can do. I will agree we cant simply grow our way out of our problem. We have to address the driver of our debt and deficit. We have to dont reduce our deficits which weve cut in half over the last four years. If we dont, interest intense is a very real threat for crowding out both public and private investment in education r d and infrastructure. Over the last three years weve made real strides in reducing our deficit. We saved more than 12. 5 billion. Thats been unbalanced. About 70 has been from spending cut. 30 from revenue. We need to do more but we have do it, i believe, in a balanced way. Weve heard from senators about the need
Well, good afternoon. Its been a long time in coming, but we are here. And its wonderful to have the opportunity to have all of us here today together. I was thinking, mr. Chairman, that when you and i started, i remember when i came into the house, we were kind of at the low end of the totem pole on the Agriculture Committees. And now we both have the honors of working together. And it really is an honor to work with you as we bring this final farm bill home. And thats what were all doing. This has been a wonderful process with our four agricultural leaders, with Ranking Member peterson, with Ranking Member cochran, and our first farm bill to pass the senate with Ranking Member pat roberts. We have had a very important, and i think, precedent setting opportunity to show how to govern. And we also have been working together for three years in a bipartisan way to reform and streamline agricultural policies that work were families and farmers and taxpayers going back to the super committ
Cybercrime is enormously profitable and its a great big deal and very big business. Companies are not doing enough to defend themselves but on the other hand a lot of threats are overhyped. There is an anonymous Security Industrial complex supplying weapons to the u. S. Military, the lobbying force for some of these merconium laws. At the same time there is real stuff that needs to be sold to real companies. An essay is not doing a lot to defend the country. Thats not really their mission. Their job is to defend military government networks. They have not been tasked with defending the broader internet. Thats probably good things that we cant judge them on that. Theres a lot going on here. How do we compare this with Climate Change . Your guess is as good as mine. Climate change is the single most catastrophic threat we are facing that is 100 years out. We as people cannot do fret analyses 100 years out. We can barely do it to the next harvest. We are not equipped as people to do that.
