in there to protect the oil. he doesn t get credit for being fully out, but he s withdrawn some forces. people from all sides are incredibly frustrated with him and there s a sense he needs to explain this better, message it better and potentially clean it up. you talk about the sort of backdrop to this and the overall context surrounding this. i think it s important because, yes, the president is talking syria, but getting serious pushback on that topic and from democrats on the impeachment inquiry as well. you re writing a little this morning about the overall mood of the president and where he is in the west wing. fill us in on some of that. one thing people say they like about the president is he s authent authentic. my piece today captures our political discourse with the president leading the charge and how that has ramped up since
to me. who believes that? the point about people being authent authentic. it will take beto o rourke everything he s got not to jump up on the stage. that is his way, jump on tables and bars. to your original point, bernie sanders and joe biden are on the same night. anybody on the other night is going to be seen as a tier two candidate. harris: why is elizabeth warren, in particular, capri, rise whering she is? bernie sanders now has to look over his shoulder and what he sees is elizabeth warren. capri: bernie and elizabeth warren occupied the same space. maybe there are those looking for a female candidate with some similar policy objectives looking to elizabeth warren. i think she has a lot of street cred and i think she s more well known than some of the other folks. dagen: she s had two authentic moments.
looking for somebody who is authent authentic, has heart, desire. we talk about this week after week, month after month. donald trump is doing so well because people think he ll be a fighter on their behalf. jeb is doing this, jeb work, he s going to florida where he ll talk about how he cut taxes and up public employees there. the fact is it s not about his resume. we never heard anything about jeb doesn t have, you know, the background or skills or the knowledge of how to be president. we ve heard that he just doesn t really want to be president. maybe it was just me but i wonder if you agree when i heard that exchange that jeb bush had with marco rubio and started questioning why he isn t voting, doing his day job, i got the sense he didn t feel that comfortable going after hill if a public forum but his advisor said this is what you got to win. marco rubio picked up on
going to be humble and authentic, just do it and don t leak it out that that s what your campaign is sort of meeting about how to make you more authent authentic. that story was a disaster for the clinton campaign. i agree with david axelrod about that. i will say that i know the folks in the clinton campaign, most of them. many of them helped elect and reelect barack obama. i m positive they didn t get in a room and say here s a good strategy, let s roll out our plan for spontaneity. sources talked, there was a mistake plemade. i don t think they did this on purpose but they ll have to dig out of it. that happened and the next day here s hillary clinton apologizing and telling a heart-felt story about her mom and tearing up on camera. so it almost makes everything sound almost calculating there. i talked to folks in the campaign aand apparently that story had been in the works for a while. i think there s some head scratching among democrats about why they did this story. they f
and change now. i don t think bernie sanders, the socialist independent can necessarily put forth a broad based appeal at this stage, but he does speak to a certain frustration among democrats, as i think trump does speaks to frustration among republicans. matt just used the term authent authentic. i think what trump has, what bernie sanders has, are ways of doing their own version of straight talk, and somehow striking a chord with voters who are fed up. hillary clinton s challenge is to get out from this suffocating talk about e-mails, benghazi, and present herself as the fresh and the somebody with fresh ideas. and fresh start. matt, you ll have to make it quick. what do you think about bernie sanders? lynn s exactly right, it s about both. bernie seems real, he seems authentic. hillary does not seem real.
