Honoured for unifying work at full-house Sydney event

An audience exceeding 400 people attended an event commemorating the 19 May Genocide Remembrance day in Sydney, co-hosted by the Greek Genocide Commemoration Committee of NSW together with the Federation of Pontian Associations of Australia and its NSW members And while Archbishop Makarios was the event’s keynote speaker, the highlight of the evening was arguably the honour bestowed to Kostantinos Antoniadis, former President of the Coordinating Committee of the Greek Genocide Victoria. He also served as President of the Australian Federation of Pontian Associations, and President of the Pontian Community of Melbourne and Victoria. In their media announcement, the Federation of Pontian Associations of Australia points out that Mr Antoniadis was never a member of the Federation nor a board member.

Pontian diet, an online presentation gives background into Pontian food culture

12 January 2021 12:29pm Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Professor Thomas Savvidis will present his book, “Pontian Diet”, in an online event by the Australian Federation of Pontian Associations at 6pm on Thursday, 14 January. The work, recently published by Kyriakidis Publications, is filled with information about Pontian food culture which has been gathered and presented from a number of perspectives: gastronomic, historic, folkloric, etymological, biochemical and culinary. With rich authentic photographic material and excellent publishing quality, this book will be a must-have acquisition and will surely be a go-to book for all. Mr Savvidis was born in Klimataki, Grevena, to parents from Ak Dag Maten, Pontos. He graduated from the six-grade High School of Tsotyli, Kozani. He studied Biology and Chemistry at the University of Thessaloniki.
