로페즈는 12일(한국시간) 론디포 파크에서 벌어진 애틀랜타 브레이브스와의 홈경기에서 첫 타자부터 9명의 타자를 연속으로 삼진 처리해 1900년 이후 처음으로 경기 시작 후 최다 연속 탈삼진 기록을 작성했다.
지금까지 경기 시작 후 최다 연속 탈삼진 기록은 지난 1986년 짐 드샤이에, 2014년 제이콥 디그롬, 2018년 게르만 마르케즈가 작성한 8타자 연속 탈삼진이었다. 1900년 이전에는 1884년 미키 웰치가 9타자를 연속 삼진으로 잡은 적이 있다. 마이애미 선수 중에서는 지난 2007년 스캇 올슨이 경기 시작 후 5타자를 잡은 것이 최다 연속 탈삼진 기록이라고 엘리아스 스포츠가 전했다.
