Austin/Travis County mask requirement extended through May 18 Austin American-Statesman Mask requirement extended to May 18 City of Austin and Travis County health officials have extended the Health Authority rules, which are the basis for the continued mask requirements, through May 18. Updates were also made for those who are fully vaccinated. Under the rules, an individual is considered fully vaccinated once they have completed their COVID-19 vaccination course and at least two weeks have passed since their last dose. Under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention s current guidance, people who are fully vaccinated can meet with others who are fully vaccinated indoors without wearing masks or social distancing. They can also interact indoors without masks and social distancing with people within their households who are not fully vaccinated and are not at high risk for severe symptoms from COVID-19.
