KPD officer injured in shooting at Austin-East discharged from hospital Knoxville Police Department officer Adam Willson was released from the hospital Friday afternoon after surgery for a gunshot wound. He was injured by a police bullet in an Austin-East Magnet High School bathroom during an encounter that ended with the police shooting and killing 17-year-old Anthony J. Thompson Jr. (Willson) is continuing to recover from his injuries and remains in good spirits, KPD spokesman Scott Erland said.  The Willson family is grateful for the well wishes, thoughts and prayers, and asks for their privacy at this time. Thompson and his girlfriend, had been in a physical fight earlier that day, according to the girlfriend s mother, Regina Perkins. She said she told Thompson an officer was coming to the school, and told officers that she believed he was unarmed.
