AURORA, Ill. (WLS) Another mass vaccination site opens its doors in Aurora for the second time in a week.
A long line wrapped around the city of Aurora s largest COVID-19 vaccination site Monday as 2,400 people received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Clearly the demand is higher than the supply, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin said. You can see today with the long lines folks are looking to get vaccinated and want to get back to their normal lives.
For many, the process of finding a vaccination site in the state has been complicated.
AURORA, Ill. (WLS) Governor JB Pritzker joined Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin and Black leaders for a mass vaccination clinic to put a focus on getting the vaccine to the Black community.
The Cathedral of Grace St. John AME Church, a historic Black church founded in 1862, served as the vaccine site. More than 750 people signed up to receive their first dose Tuesday.
The vaccination site was open for this clinic aimed at the Black community on Tuesday only, but similar clinics are planned for March 19 aimed at the LatinX community and on March 25 for people with disabilities. Locations and the registration process for those clinics are still being finalized.
A COVID vaccine site opening in Aurora, Illinois is going to be focused on getting the Black community vaccinated. Governor JB Pritzker will tour the site at the Cathedral of Grace St. John AME Church Tuesday.
