President and concurrent Agriculture Secretary Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. over the weekend said there may be a need to import sugar come October, but that it would not be as much as the earlier reported 300,000 metric tons needed.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will not interfere with the ongoing investigation on the supposed issuance of an order to import 300,000 metric tons of sugar which was later rejected and deemed “illegal,” Malacañang said on Saturday.
The issuance of an "illegal" order allowing the importation of an additional 300,000 metric tons of sugar is now being investigated and heads may roll if it was done with malice or negligence, Malacañang said Thursday.
