VIGO: Celta Vigo beat Levante 2-0 in the La Liga on Friday, dealing the visitors a fourth consecutive loss.
Brais Mndez struck in the 51st minute when the midfielder chipped a pass by Iago Aspas to gently lift it around goalkeeper Daniel Crdenas.
Aspas had to be substituted because of an apparent leg injury shortly after the opener. His substitute Augusto Solari put the result beyond doubt in the 74th when he finished off a team buildup by rifling in a cross from Aarn Martn.
Celta also lost Renato Tapia and Jeison Murillo to apparent leg injuries.
Celta, who are in the relegation zone when coach Eduardo Coudet took over in November, moved into ninth place.

Celta s first win in seven rounds lifted them to ninth place. Elche were left second-to-last in the relegation zone.
Mina opened the scoring in the 45th minute after he received an exquisite pass by Nolito, who used a skillful touch to redirect a ball from Iago Aspas that left Mina with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Aspas and Nolito combined again a minute later to set up Brais Mendez and give the hosts a 2-0 lead into halftime.
An error by Celta goalkeeper Ruben Blanco let Elche pull one back in the 50th.
Trying to avoid giving Elche a corner kick, Blanco pawed a ball that was going over the end-line back into play. The ball went directly to Elche s Guido Carillo, who assisted Emiliano Rogini to score into an empty net.

MADRID: Atletico Madrid slipped up in La Liga for the first time in nine games on Monday as Celta Vigo snatched a late equaliser to deliver a ray of hope to Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Luis Suarez scored twice at the Wanda Metropolitano to overturn Santi Mina’s opener for Celta, with Atletico on course to restore their 10-point lead at the top of the table.
But Facundo Ferreyra slid in to score in the 89th minute to earn a deserved 2-2 draw for the visitors, meaning Atletico’s advantage at the end of the weekend is reduced to eight, still with a game in hand.
Atletico Madrid were denied the opportunity to restore their 10-point lead at the LaLiga summit after Facundo Ferreyra's 89th-minute equaliser sealed an unlikely 2-2 draw for Celta Vigo on Monday.
