Longtime St. Augustine Record writer Anne Heymen dies Heymen, 80, joined The Record in 1962 Margo Pope Anne Carling Heymen, longtime writer for The St. Augustine Record, died on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring. Heymen, 80, was a native of Forks Township, Pennsylvania. She joined The Record in 1962 after graduation from Stetson University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was a longtime resident of St. Augustine Beach. Her parents moved to St. Augustine Beach while she was in college. They owned and operated Surf Crest Village, a family-centered resort, for many years. In a 2014 interview announcing her retirement, Heymen said she had worked for and with 11 publishers and 11 editors and that it was time to retire.
