Earlier during the 43rd CAF General Assembly which saw him elected CAF President, Motsepe vowed to visit the 54 CAF Member Associations in the next nine to twelve. months. Punch Newspapers Sections ’Tosin Oluwalowo Published 14 March 2021 The Nigeria Football Federation has described as untrue reports that President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, was selected as 5th Vice President of the Confederation of African Football at Friday’s 43rd Ordinary and Elective Assembly in Rabat, Morocco. In a statement on Saturday, NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, said the report was sheer falsehood, adding that such was never discussed either on the floor of the Congress or at any meeting of the CAF leadership. “The president of NFF, Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick, was elected as Member of the FIFA Council at the Congress, and that is what we are celebrating. Nobody approached him or put it up for discussion at any forum that he would be 5th Vice President.

Former FIFA official Mosengo-Omba becomes CAF general secretary Sunday, 14 March 2021 Former FIFA employee Véron Mosengo-Omba has been named Confederation of African Football (CAF) general secretary, following the election of Patrice Motsepe as the organisation’s new President. Mosengo-Omba, an ally of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, had been working for the global governing body as its chief member associations officer. The governing body said Mosengo-Omba initially joined FIFA in 2016 and helped to support member associations to implement the FIFA Forward development programme. FIFA credited Mosengo-Omba with managing relationships with all FIFA member associations and continental confederations in his role. This included supporting the 54 African member associations in their FIFA Forward projects, in the development of youth and women’s football throughout the continent, as well as the recent implementation of the FIFA COVID-19 Relief Plan.
