A 23-year-old man accused of causing a deadly crash while drunk driving on the West Side last week allegedly told a witness that he was “done” and “going to jail.”
Maliq Bent ran a red light, barreling through the intersection of Damen Avenue and Augusta Boulevard at more than 75 mph before T-boning Moizuddin’s vehicle, Cook County prosecutors said Monday.
The impact of the early morning Dec. 15 crash caused Moizuddin’s car to spin out of control, striking a parked car before it stopped, Assistant State’s Attorney James Murphy said.
After the crash, Bent said he was “done” and “going to jail” to a witness who saw him run the red light and strike Moizuddin, Murphy said.
