tornado season. this is not tornado season for us. but they certainly happen all year long. just depends on where the jet stream is. and today, it s there. chad, thank you, sir. gulf coast businesses hurt by the oil disaster, struggling to get tourists to return. we ll check in with two businesses to see how things are going.
90s all day today across parts of upstate new york and also down even in the middle 90s from yonkers down to inglewood and the queens area. this is going to lead to something else. we have our first real significant watch of the day. it is a severe thunderstorm watch box. a strong line approaching the st. louis area. that line could immediately make wind damage. trees could be down, power lines could be down. we have cold fronts and warm fronts banging into each other across parts of the midwest and in these zones where we have the red here, the red across parts of the northeast, also into montana and parts of wyoming as well, they could see severe weather. the most severe is probably right there centered over iowa. some of those could have storms that rotate and when that happens, the rotation can lead to tornadoes on the ground. not typically your july/august
