Paint N Fun To Be Held At Audubon | News, Sports, Jobs

Jan 19, 2021 The Audubon Community Nature Center will host a socially distant Paint n’ Fun Art Night on Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Each person will be seated at their own table situated six feet apart from other participants. All materials will already be at the table. Beginner to advanced artists are welcome. Emily Rechin was a seasonal nature educator at Audubon and has experience painting with all mediums. She will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create your very own acrylic painting as well as information on the nature subject to be painted. Audubon’s COVID-19 safety precautions require face coverings for all visitors ages 3 and up for indoor programs.

Jan 18, 2021 On Wednesday, Jan. 27, the Audubon Community Nature Center will have its first monthly after-school Creature Feature, highlighting one or more of Audubon’s education animals. Turtles will be January’s featured creature. The Audubon Community Nature Center is presenting a new program to introduce kids and families to their critters. On the last Wednesday of the month, one or two of Audubon’s animals will be spotlighted in Audubon’s after-school Creature Feature. Turtles will be the stars on Jan. 27 from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. Animals can teach people a lot, and Creature Feature is an opportunity to learn what makes them special.

Jan 9, 2021 You can drive right up to the front door of the Audubon Community Nature Center building to pick up your spaghetti dinners at their fundraiser on Saturday, January 23. Pre-order by January 15 to schedule your pick-up time and guarantee your meals. The Audubon Community Nature Center is presenting a drive-up spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 23. The meal includes a plentiful helping of spaghetti with red sauce and meatballs, a side salad, sliced bread, and a homemade cookie. A vegetarian option is also available that does not include meatballs. Pick-up times are every 15 minutes between 4 and 6 p.m., and volunteers will deliver right to patrons’ vehicles. Meals are limited to 75 total. The cost of the full dinner is $16 per meal.

Jan 6, 2021 Three and a half years ago, naturalist and Jamestown native Mark Baldwin moved to the shores of Malaren, Sweden’s third-largest freshwater lake, near Stockholm, Sweden. He has been exploring the forests and fields of the area ever since. On Friday, Jan. 8, from 11 a.m. to noon, Baldwin will share stories and lessons in natural history from his Swedish journey, taking those taking part on a virtual tour of “The Nature of Sweden,” a First Friday presentation of Audubon Community Nature Center. Baldwin spent his early years and most of his career in Jamestown. He now teaches science in an urban middle school and spends as much time as possible with his wife Ardy and their family, enjoying the forest near their home.

Audubon schedules Holiday Kids Camps | News, Sports, Jobs

Dec 23, 2020 JAMESTOWN Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to take a break from the holiday busyness and come to Audubon Community Nature Center for a day or exploration, fun, and learning. Audubon is offering two Holiday Camp opportunities, on Tuesday, Dec. 29, and Thursday, Dec. 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children can explore winter habitats, play in the snow, perhaps find a “skating” pond, and visit with their friends. They will learn about nature and all the cool activity that occurs during the snowier months of the year. Children will be in age groups for all activities, including lunch. The program is primarily outdoors. Parents are asked to pack extra clothes, mittens, shoes, and outdoor gear, as well as a snack, lunch, water bottle, and a face covering.
