UNM Continuing Education launches affordable coding bootcamps
Part-time, 18-week programs to help working professionals become software developers April 27, 2021
With the current shortage of 1.4 million software developers in the US, there is a heightened demand for skilled software developers. The University of New Mexico Continuing Education saw an opportunity to bridge this gap by offering 18-week coding bootcamps powered by Promineo Tech in both Front End and Back End Software Development.
The bootcamps are specifically designed for the working adult who is looking to switch careers, or to change positions within the tech industry. The job opportunities for the graduates of the program span from roles including Java Developer, Software Engineer, Back End Developer, Application Developer and Front End Developer with a rewarding $62,000 average starting salary.
The Storm men’s and women’s track and field squads will head to the American Rivers Conference indoor championships this weekend in Waverly at Wartburg College. The Storm women bring back fifth-place finisher in the high jump from 2020 Jamie Glanz, and add standout freshman Audrey Arnold who is currently sixth in the 60-meter hurdles and eighth in the long jump. The Storm men have multiple opportunities for a championship, with Mason Spree currently second in the league in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put, and Spencer Moon who is currently 12th in the nation in the 3,000. The Storm women compete on Saturday, while the men will go on Sunday.
