Roughly 150 Afghans took part in the event in Burlington’s Old North End. It showcased the culture, food and music of a community displaced by war and adjusting to a new life in the Green Mountain State.
Police are treating the case as a murder-suicide. A child who was at the scene was unharmed and is with relatives, Colchester Police Chief Douglas Allen said.
“While we are aggressively hiring across Vermont, with the unemployment rate in the state currently at 2.5%, we’re not seeing the numbers we’d like to at our hiring events,” said Steve Doherty, a regional postal official.
