It is the brouhaha that has followed the recently published Year 2019 Government Audit Report by the Audit Services Sierra (ASSL) that has informed the caption of this piece. An Audit is an examination of various records, financial statements and administrative documents within a particular timeline to ensure compliances with existing regulations and guidelines in order to verify the fairness and accuracy of the transactions they purport to represent during that prescribed timeline.

Due to the absence of the Auditor General of the Audit Service Sierra Leone (Lara Taylor-Pearce), the Public Account Committee (PAC), yesterday could not hold its investigations on the conclusions made by auditors on the National Covid-19 Emergency Response Center (NARCOVERC).
According to the Chairman of the Committee who doubles as Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Segepor Solomon Thomas, they knew that Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have explanations about some of the conclusions made in the report, but that should be done in the presence of the Auditor General.
He said the committee couldn’t continue with hearing in the absence of the Auditor General.

th January, engaged the media on the 2019 Audit Report where they explained the processes used in auditing the export of timber, the missing 47 laptops at NaCOVERC, the 30 vehicles bought by NaCOVERC, among a host of other issues.
Addressing journalists at the Sierra Association of Journalists Conference Hall on Campbell Street, Auditor General, Lara Taylor-Pearce said during their recent consultation on their strategic plan there were suggestions made regarding the Audit Service Sierra Leone public engagement and as it starts a new year.
She said Audit service Sierra Leone like many other superior audit services around the world carry out three types of audit-financial statement audit, compliance audit and performance audit.
