AUBURN, Alabama It was just under a year ago that
Philip Knowles withdrew from the LOCALiQ Series event at Auburn University Club because he was so disappointed with his score. He was 5-under after 10 when things started to spiral. He made two double bogeys, on Nos. 11 and 14, leaving him so frustrated he just wanted the round to end. Saturday, back on the same course, Knowles got his chance at redemption and built on his third-round lead, finishing the day with a 5-under 67 to win by two strokes and clinch the Forme Tour’s Auburn University Club Invitational title.

AUBURN, Alabama Slow and steady wins the race, or at least it has paid off thus far for Philip Knowles, who shot a 7-under 65 in his third round to put him at 18-under overall and in the top spot after 54 holes of the Auburn University Club Invitational. Knowles has a one-shot advantage on Bryson Nimmer and two over Alex Smalley as they head into the final round Saturday.
“Overall, today was really good. I made a lot of birdies the last couple of days but was just plagued by some squares on the scorecard,” he said of his bogeys. “I kept it clean today, which was nice. I’ve improved every day and this golf course sets up really well for me.”

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida The Forme Tour, the newly created, U.S.-based Tour, announced its eight-tournament schedule Wednesday, a slate that will take players to seven states with Indiana hosting two tournaments. The Forme Tour, which provides a path to the Korn Ferry Tour for the season’s top finishers and offers Official World Golf Ranking points, will begin in late-June and conclude the second week of September.
