Malawi Police in Blantyre have finally arrested former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) director general, Aubrey Sumbuleta and is being kept at Limbe Police Station.

Sumbuleta, accused of sexually harassing female employees at the public broadcaster, was arrested Saturday morning.
National Police publicist, James Kadadzera has confirmed the development, saying law enforcers will have to record statement from him before they go further with legal proceedings.
His arrest follows recommendations from the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) which investigated sexual harrassment allegations which were leveled against the former MBC Director General.
Sumbuleta Arrested Over Sexual Assault
The Police in Blantyre have arrested former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta.
National Police publicist, James Kadadzera, confirmed the development, saying Sumbuleta was arrested this morning and is in custody at Limbe Police Station.
Arrest comes weeks after a Malawi Human Right Commission (MHRC) inquiry revealed he sexually abused female staff when he was head of the institution.

Inside information in Malawi Voice’s custody indicates that Jolly Ntaba Jnr. PhD scored the highest in interviews for Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and is earmarked to be offered the job within next week.
Ntaba, a former journalist at the public broadcaster is currently a journalism professor at the University of Malawi’s Polytechnic having obtained his PhD from a South African University last year.
Coming second is Chakuchanya Harawa, a former MBC reporter himself, currently working with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in London, United Kingdom.
According to our impeccable source, coming third is the current Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Director of Media and Public Relations, Sangwani Mwafulirwa.
Following sexual allegations leveled against former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation Director General Aubrey Sumbuleta, the Malawi Police Service have said they have instituted criminal investigations.
The past weeks, the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) released a report on the investigations the commission did regarding Sumbuleta that he was sexually harassing female employees at the state funded broadcaster.
At least 8 female employees complained to the board that Sumbuleta had been asking sexual favors from them which prompted some of them to discharge themselves form the Corporation.
However, Sumbuleta is denying the charges against him.
The commission further ordered that those who resigned from the Corporation should be reinstated and ordered the Malawi Police to institute criminal investigations against Sumbuleta hence the development.
