PORT ALLEN - It s costing West Baton Rouge Parish hundreds of dollars to keep a 14-year-old accused of second-degree murder in custody.
The teenager was arrested about a week ago for the murder of 15-year-old Jazzimane Woods at an apartment complex. There s not a facility in the state of Louisiana that would provide a bed for him, so we had to take him out state, District Attorney Tony Clayton said.
Clayton would not say where the teenager is being housed, but it s costing the parish between $300 to $400 a day to keep the suspect in custody.

WHITE CASTLE, La. (AP) A former mayor in Louisiana, who was accused of illegally reimbursing himself more than $2,200 during his time in office, pleaded no contest to a corruption charge and will serve three years of probation.
Gerald Jermarr Williams, the ex-mayor of the southeastern town of White Castle, was arrested in April for falsified public records, illegal use of a moveable and malfeasance in office after a state investigation, The Advocate reports.
The 40-year-old pleaded no contest to only the wrongdoing charge, the newspaper said, which bars him from holding public office again in Louisiana. The district attorney’s office agreed to drop the other counts if Williams pleaded to the felony infraction.

PORT ALLEN, La. Bodycam footage recently released captures the moment a Louisiana officer repeatedly uses his Taser against a 67-year-old man, taunting the individual by telling him to scream, according to reports.
“Scream again,” Police Officer Nolan Dehon is heard telling Izell Richardson during the encounter in Port Allen last month. “Go ahead, scream. Scream again.”
When Richardson, who is handcuffed, yells for help from the back of the police cruiser, Dehon, 45, tases him twice, KMOV-TV reported.
The 45-minute video shows Dehon still arguing with Richardson at the police station even as the arrestee is being taken to the hospital.
