OCONTO – A new trial was scheduled Friday for the Suring ice cream shop owner convicted in January 2020 of inappropriately touching a female employee.
Tyler J. Readman, 47, was found guilty by jury at the end of a three-day trial of repeated sexual assault of the same child, a felony punishable by up to 40 years in prison.
Before the Pound man could be sentenced, however, his new attorneys sought a new trial, alleging a violation of Brady v. Maryland, a precedent set by the Supreme Court in 1963.
After hearing testimony at hearings in July and September, Oconto County Judge Michael T. Judge agreed, vacating the conviction in a ruling issued in November and ordered a new trial.
