May 5 is National Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) Awareness Day. The United States Department of Justice says, "Responding to the unacceptable levels of violence that have led to the crisis of Missing or Murdered Indigenous Persons is a priority of the Department of Justice (DOJ) every day."

DOJ announced new initiatives that prioritize the investigation and enforcement of economic sanctions evasion, export control violations, and similar economic crimes. A surge of resources will be used to address the intersection of corporate crime and national security.
