The Fairfield City Council met in regular session last night and worked through an 8-item agenda. After an Executive Session, the council voted unanimously to sell the former Fairfield Auxiliary Police Building on South 1st St. The minimum bid for the property is $60,000 with a retail buyer preferred. The bid opening is scheduled for the first council meeting in October. Discussion was held concerning the proposed water tower on NW 7th St. It was announced that the cost of the project had blossomed from $1.4 million to $1.8 million. The project is TIF eligible and $200,000 has been pledged from Senator Darren Baileys office. An ordinance was approved allowing city access to utility meters which may be inside fenced properties. An ordinance was passed allowing for the abatement of certain fines imposed in municipal court. The Fairfield City Council will hold their Regular Meeting tonight at 6pm. Items in Routine Business include Award Bid for Water Filter Chemicals, IML Agreement Revision FY 22-23, Airport Maintenance Agreement with Albion Radio Communications, and Ordinance Requiring Access to Utility Meters. Fairfield Community High School district 225 will hold a special board meeting on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 5:00 pm in the FCHS Study Hall. In new business the board will address the updated Return to School Plan. The Board will also enter into Executive Session for consideration of employment of two paraprofessionals for Special Education, a part-time bus driver, and Special Education teacher. The board will also consider increases in pay for paraprofessionals and bus drivers. The Fairfield City Council will meet on Tuesday, August 9 at 6 p.m. In routine business the council will discuss repealing ordinance section 51.37, contractor disposal of waste.
