Ex-Magnolia fire chief pleads guilty in public corruption case Published:  Tags:  HOUSTON – A former Magnolia volunteer fire chief pleaded guilty to abuse of official capacity on Wednesday. Gary Vincent was sentenced to pay a $4,000 fine and restitution to the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Department, though that amount was not disclosed in a news release from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. Vincent was the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Chief for approximately 15 years.  On February 11, 2021, Vincent was placed on administrative leave due to a public integrity investigation. The district attorney’s office said the probe revealed that Vincent misused government money by hiring an unqualified employee for personal reasons and abusing his power by disregarding both ESD 10 and department policies and procedures put in place to protect Montgomery county taxpayers.  The investigation also revealed a lack of oversight by the ESD 10 board, who have all since resigned.

Man sentenced to 65 years in prison for using stun gun on disabled daughter CONROE, Texas - Officials in Montgomery County have sentenced a man to 65 years in prison for using a stun gun his 14-year-old disabled daughter.  According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, evidence showed Anthony Maurice Jackson used a stun gun on several occasions against his daughter, who suffers from multiple disabilities.  The DA’s office says the child later died but not because of the stun gun but taking medication that was not prescribed for her. However, authorities testified that because the victim was not capable of administering medication to herself and her death was ruled a homicide.

Man who raped Montgomery County woman at knife-point receives 45 years in prison Evidence collected in case connected Jorge Arturo Mar Jr. to four other Harris County rape cases, authorities say Published:  Tags:  Jorge Arturo Mar Jr. (Montgomery County District Attorney) HOUSTON – A jury sentenced a man to 45 years in prison after he was convicted in a 2018 rape of a Montgomery County woman. Jorge Arturo Mar Jr., 26, was convicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault. He will not be eligible for parole until 2041. A news release from Montgomery County authorities said that during trial, the state presented evidence that on August 1, 2018, Mar raped the woman at knifepoint in his vehicle in Spring. After the rape, Mar stole the woman’s phone and left her stranded.  The woman was eventually able to call 911, and deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded.
