The Genesee Wyoming Music Educatorsâ Association celebrated âMusic in Our Schoolsâ month with the theme âmusic is the sound of my heart.â
To showcase and promote music in its schools â at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has largely silenced musical and theatrical performances â the association created a nearly 20-minute video with positive messages and dozens of pictures from all the associationâs districts.
âWhile this year looks different and we canât perform in our All County Ensembles, we are still making music,â said GWMEA President Stephanie Michalek, an instrumental music teacher at Attica Central School. âMusic is a tool that we have to brighten our day, our mood, and share with others.â
