It might look like likely theyre going to provide an answer on whether former President Donald Trump is eligible for colorados president ial so ballot and therefore for other states that have raised this issue, the constitutions 14th amendment says that americans who engage in insurrection are disqualified from holding future public office. The Colorado State Supreme Court ruled this applies to trump after his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election, which then led to the january 6 attack on the capital. But the constitution does not spell out exactly how to force that banned, nor does it define what qualifies as insurrection, leaving the Us Supreme Court now to fill those gaps, colorado Secretary Of State Jenna Griswold joins us now. it? certainly joe biden s adviser, yes, he had a bad night last time and he can t afford another one. his base is signaling he will be much more aggressive this evening. and expect to take fire. they think it might be more cory booker, and they re ready and ready to hit back. that is interesting too. you mentioned booker. garrett, let me bring you in. booker is telegraphing he will go after potentially biden here. i m curious two things, first of all, booker is interesting to me. i covered him when he was running for newark mayor a long time ago but this doesn t seem stylistically as a natural fit for him. he made his name in politics, at least that i remember, not an attack guy. i wonder if he will pull that role off if he embraces it. but booker, harris, where else will the fire be coming for biden tonight? booker made so much of his campaign about love and to use the cliche here, he has to show
another name we were taublki about this morning, rand paul. his big moment, it seemed like, when he attacked donald trump at the very beginning of that debate and then he didn t land a blow. he sort of wound up being the trump attack guy. and, you know, like rick perry, i don t think it helps him. i think ana s right about scott walker, and what this says to me, again, as we ve been talking about now for several days, what we re seeing evolve here is outsiders versus outsiders. insiders, even a governor, is not making the cut here. so, that anybody who s held elected office of any kind is having a problem. that includes jeb bush, that includes all of these folks. hat you describe as insiders, i think, you know, a lot of them had very good debates last night. i think my florida guys, my 305 guys, you know, came in strong. and brought it. what about ben carson, doesn t ben carson had a place
lindsey graham. yes. if he doesn t get a bump. absolutely. he had a great debate yesterday. we saw carly emerge from the first debate, the first undercard debate, and if anybody s going to emerge from last night s undercard debate, it s going to be lindsay. he spoke the most. he was, you know, i ran into him aft the debate and i said i am so glad lindsey graham showed up. because in the first debate, he was devoid of lindsey graham, the witty smart, you know, who knows how to dig guy. unlike now. on our show. one of the problems here now is we have so many people running for the debate and the job is to be elected president of the united states and if you re 1% in the polls, you re failing at one of those tasks. so the interesting thing, though, is this. there was a separation because of the size of the stage. 10 or 11 candidates. at some point, can they set it at a percentage in the polls and some of those guys on the main stage last night, they weren t far away from linds
that image. that s why they also keep saying, send us somebody to love. they want somebody who s got that core conviction, who cannot only take on the president, but present that image of a very strong republican candidate without a lot of extraneous baggage, without scandals popping up every five minutes, without reports that he s not really get with the program. and gingrich oddly enough doesn t really fit that bill, even though he s the front-runner right now, taking his turn as the not-mitt, gingrich does not really fit that bill. because you know so much, ron. you know too much! yes! but everybody knows this but people will find out. but in this instance, image matters. and what you have in newt gingrich is somebody who will make a bold statement and say something that is complete he ll go on the attack too. and the next week, he ll come out and say something completely different, of course. but they want an attack guy. anyway, thank you, joe williams. thank you,
