Tampa, FL – Digital Underground legend Shock G was found dead in a Tampa, Florida hotel room on Thursday (April 22), bringing his 57 years on earth to an untimely end. As the shock continues to ricochet throughout the Hip Hop community, tributes are still pouring in on social media nearly a week later.

TMZhe will be laid to rest on Saturday (May 1) in Tampa, giving friends and family a chance to say their goodbyes. Among the anticipated guests are Shock G’s Digital Underground brethren, Money B and DJ Fuze, 2Pac’s step-brother Mopreme Shakur and close friend Ray Luv.

Shock G will be laid to rest in Tampa, Florida this Saturday (May 1), TMZ reports. The 90s hip hop icon will reportedly be memorialized with a tribute from his Digital Underground groupmates, including Money B and DJ Fuze.
According to his manager, Atron Gregory, Humpty Hump’s groupmates have been working closely with his family to plan Saturday’s funeral proceedings. However, Money B’s manager told TMZ the service will not be a full Digital Underground reunion, though many of the members have seen each other recently and stay in touch.
The news came from Shock’s manager, Atron Gregory, about the funeral plans, while Money B of DU is helping the family prepare for the services. it has also been announced that Tupac’s brother, Mopreme Shakur, will also be in attendance.
Shock G was found dead in a hotel room not far from where his funeral will be held. He was 57 years old.

His cause of death is still undetermined, but it has been revealed that the hotel manager was the last one to see Shock alive outside of the building the day before he died. When Shock missed his check-out time the next day, the manager became concerned and went to the rapper’s room. The manager found Shock unresponsive and called 911.

“Shock G & Digital Underground were trailblazers in Oakland & the Bay not to mention bringing a future icon in Tupac onto the scene,” wrote Rep. Barbara Lee on Twitter, referring to the Oakland hip-hop group Shock G co-founded in 1987, which became a launching pad for band member Tupac Shakur.
“His contributions to hip hop music & culture will never be erased. May he rest in peace,” Lee added.
