CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide after three people were shot, and one of them died, early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a call on the 4000 block of Merlane Drive in north Charlotte just before 12:30 a.m. Merlane Drive is off West Sugar Creek Road.
Officers found two people with gunshot wounds. Medic pronounced one victim, identified as Jamias Lowon Shropshire, dead at the scene. The other victim is expected to be OK.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives have charged a second suspect in connection to a deadly shooting that happened near the UNC Charlotte campus in early November.
After a continued investigation, police identified 22-year-old Azariel Araque as a suspect in the Xavier Adams homicide case and warrants were issued for his arrest.
Police say Araque was arrested Tuesday in Lexington, North Carolina, with the assistance of CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT).
Following an interview, Araque was transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Accessory After the Fact to Murder, according to CMPD.
