Man Arrested for Trespassing in Empty Oelwein Building
Oelwein Police have arrested a Shellsburg man, for trespassing in an empty building.
Shortly after 9am Thursday (March 4), officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the first block of South Frederick Avenue in Oelwein. Police discovered 37 year old Kurtis Wayne Shasteen of Shellsburg, in an unoccupied dwelling. Shasteen was taken into custody on a charge of Trespass.

An Oelwein man has been taken into custody for a Fayette County arrest warrant. 29 year old Atonio Oaks was wanted on an arrest warrant for a Violation of a No Contact Order.
Oelwein Police Make No-Contact Violation Arrest
Oelwein Police report an arrest concerning a court order, and a separate report of a vandalism.
Oelwein Police were called out Saturday morning (Jan. 30) for some reported vandalism. Just before 7:30am, officers responded to the report of Criminal Mischief in the 700 block of 3rd Avenue SW. No other information was released, and the incident remains under investigation.
Late Friday afternoon, the Oelwein Police Department received a call, reporting that a man was violating a no-contact order. The call came in just before 5pm, to the 200 block of 2nd Avenue SE. 29 year old Atonio Oaks of Oelwein was taken into custody for Violation of a No-Contact Order, which is a Simple Misdemeanor.
Local Man Arrested for Assault in Wednesday Disturbance
An Oelwein man has been arrested for assault, and other charges following an incident Wednesday morning (Jan. 27).
Shortly after 10am, Oelwein Police were called to a residence in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue SE, after receiving a report of a man causing a disturbance.
Arriving officers took 29 year old Atonio Oaks of Oelwein into custody, on charges of Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, and Domestic Assault.
According to the Oelwein Police Department, all of the charges are simple misdemeanors.
