In 1974, when Robert Shprintzen was a young speech pathologist at Montefiore Medical Centre in New York, he was introduced to a dozen children with similar presentations: cleft palates, heart problems, immune disorders and developmental delays that would ultimately lead to learning disabilities. He published a paper describing this new syndrome. Other scientists had chronicled children with identical features - DiGeorge syndrome, for instance - but ultimately it was agreed that they were talking about the same syndrome and kids. They called it velocardiofacial syndrome, or VCFS.

very powerful piece by you in d you take the democrats to task and try speaking truth to power on that side of the aisle. what is your central message? what do you see that the democrats are in the midst of doing wrong, in your view? they are right now, they d tried to focus the nation s attention on impeachment, and rightly so. i was an impeachment skeptic, until ukraine which is an overt, unbelievably simple open and shut case of corruption and now obstruction on top of it. but what they said is we re going to work with the president on a trade bill, on pharma, on all these other infrastructure, cat and dog issues. on the one hand, this is a message this is a man who is so outside the bounds we must impeach him and remove him from office. on the other hand, let s make a deal. that does not help them in terms of the focus they need on donald trump because 2020 is a
