By Akyaaba Addai-Sebo Listen to article
With the establishment of the GHANA BROADCASTING CORPORATION (GBC) in 1953, the Ghana News Agency on the eve of Independence on 5th March 1957 and the External Service in 1961 Nkrumah rivaled the BBC and VOA in scope and depth as the broadcast service, apart from English, was also in Swahili, Hausa, French, Spanish and Portuguese (plus a bevy of local languages).
