FALL RIVER Sarah Reis says she misses being able to meet face to face with all of her students.
“We normally would be able to get really close to the kids, but now they’re not there, and that’s sad,” said Reis, who has been a Fall River Police Department school resource officer, or SRO, since November 2019.
Reis and the eight other school resource officers, like everyone else, have had to adjust to the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic during the past 11 months.
For SROs it’s meant making occasional outreach visits to households whenever there’s suspicion that something might be amiss to the detriment of a student, who is either in a fully remote or hybrid learning model.
