Four Girls Charged In Atlantic City Robbery In Which Store Owner Died

2 Read / Add Comments Four girls have been charged in connection with a store robbery on the Atlantic City boardwalk, authorities said.  A 12-year-old boy who brandished a knife during the robbery was previously arrested for threatening the store owner, who later died of a heart attack. At 7:41 p.m., on April 1, Atlantic City police responded to a business in the 1500 block of the Boardwalk in reference to a boy with a knife.  Shortly after the arrival of the officers, the store owner Mahmood Ansari, of Atlantic City, collapsed and was not breathing. A bystander began CPR, which was taken over by Officer Joseph Kelly and then medical personnel. Ansari was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

More Kids Charged in Connection to Robbery at AC Boardwalk Store

Four more kids one as young as 11 have now been charged in connection to a robbery at a store on the Atlantic City Boardwalk last month where the owner collapsed and died. The scene unfolded on the evening of April 1st as Atlantic City police officers responded to a business in the 1500 block of the Boardwalk in reference to a man with a knife. Arriving officers were informed that multiple juveniles were damaging the store and assaulting individuals. While attempting to steal items, a 12-year-old boy brandished a knife and threatened the store owner. The 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old female were arrested at the scene. Shortly thereafter, the store owner, Mahmood Ansari of Atlantic City, collapsed and was not breathing. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Campus where he was pronounced dead.

On Thursday at 2:57 p.m., 9-1-1 calls were received at the Pleasantville Police Department reporting that victims had been shot on the 100 block of Linden Avenue, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner. Pleasantville police officers foumd Maurice Hampton, also known as Abdul Hamid shot and killed, Tyner said. An autopsy was being performed on Friday. Two 18 year-old shooting victims who survived were identified as Messiah Burton and Shilameen Henderson, both of Pleasantville. They were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus.
