Severe storms rumbled across a wide portion of our area this evening and now some scattered showers will linger through the overnight hours. First alert meteorologist erica grow has the latest on our yellow alert. It got very active in the Late Afternoon and early evening hours. The thunderstorm started out along i81 and continued to hold together as they moved through the metro area. This is a threehour loop of Doppler Radar 9000 when the warnings were allowed to expire. We still had strong storms through most of the overnight hours and now this is the last of it in our area down into extreme Southern Maryland and calvert counties. We are definitely seeing things settle down. We will see a calmer day
Rain. Snow in the sierra. This is a picture of some of the hail that came to the south and north bay some spots it did look like a layer lots of happy people. Mini snowman. The water main break that flooded the streets in the citys neighborhood. Noelle walker has been there all day joining us live. Noelle any progress there with the road work or the water line repairs . Reporter its a good thing it didnt happen as the road behind me opened up half an hour ago after being closed for eight hours. Quite the clean up efforts. Take a look at where they are now. The hole in the ground where the water main broke as they are working to sure it up to come back tomorrow and fix it. But today what a mess. We would. I still believe in their avenue. Reporter and around 8 30 in the morning the 12inch water main broke, the water gushed on to the roads below. Its like a water fall or something. To undermine the earth as you can see from over there. All of that would force all of that earth to be pushed this way. Reporter the water mixed with dirt and coated the lanes in southbound avenue in mud. As we get into the sierra thats where theyre picking up some much needed snow. Lets talk about whats happening outside of our doors first. You can see its off the san mateo coastline. We have a few showers over the Santa Cruz Mountains and we have light showers falling this morning along highway 101, you can expect to see some of this.
