The Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition filed by Ali Ahmed, the jailed son of slain gangster Atiq Ahmed, seeking security in jail. Ali had requested video conferencing for his trial and interrogation on the jail premises. However, as no advocate appeared on behalf of Ali, the court dismissed the petition. Ali s name had come up during the investigation of the Umesh Pal murder case.
