Sri Lanka bans 11 Islamic terror organisations including IS
Sri Lanka has banned 11 Islamic terror organisations, including the Islamic State (ISIS) and Al-Qaeda, for their links to extremist activities in the country.

Sri Lanka on Tuesday banned 11 Islamic terror groups including the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), also known as the Islamic State (IS).
The decision was announced in a gazette notice signed by Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act, No. 48 of 1979 regulations, cited as the Prevention of Terrorism (Proscription of Extremist Organizations) Regulations No. 2 of 2021.
