€250,000 in Cultural Grants will benefit Kilkenny communities Reporter: sian.moloughney@kilkennypeople.ie Muckalee Community Centre has been awarded €40,000 under the Community and Cultural/ Intercultural Facilities Capital Scheme ); A fund of €250,000 has been shared between community organisations across County Kilkenny. The Community and Cultural/ Intercultural Facilities Capital Scheme is funded through development contributions and allocated by Kilkenny County Council. It has been described as a positive recognition of the huge amount of voluntary work in organisations crucial to community life. Welcoming the grants, at last week’s meeting of Kilkenny County Council, Cathaoirleach Andrew McGuinness said he was, however, disappointed that no city groups had been awarded grants. He asked that all unsuccessful applicants be given feedback and guidance as to why they had failed to secure a grant.

Among his many invaluable involvements he made a huge contribution to children’s disability football and has been sorely missed by all who knew him.

A new walk-through coronavirus testing centre has opened in Dartford, along with more sites in south east London A new walk-through coronavirus testing facility has opened in a car park in Dartford, joining an asymptomatic testing centre opening on the waterfront in Woolwich. The Dartford facility opened on Monday, January 25, in the Arcacia Hall car park, with residents suffering from coronavirus symptoms able to book appointments daily. The new site is walk-through, situated to allow easy access without care, but those getting tested must not travel there by taxi or public transport, as well as following a number of other safety measures.

Brantham Athletic Football Club was established in 1887 and currently has teams playing in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties Premier Division, as well as in the Essex and Suffolk Border League. Taylor Wimpey, which is making contributions to nearby community facilities ahead of its Stour View development, said the club was a much-loved local organisation worthy of extra support.
