Illegal mining is a critical challenge in the South African mining and minerals industry. "In response to this challenge and ahead of the Investing in African Mining Indaba 2022, on 30 March 2022, the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy published the Artisanal and Small Scale-Mining Policy 2022 for implementation," said Athi Jara, Director, Mining and Environmental practice at Werksmans Attorneys.
