The day Opposition parties urged the Narendra Modi government to accept their advice to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country and save it from an “apocalyptic human tragedy”, BJP’s Odisha face and Union minister Dharamendra Pradhan urged chief minister Naveen Patnaik to involve Opposition parties in the fight against the pandemic. He urged Naveen to constitute a Covid crisis management committee to deal with the situation arising out of it. His call, however, has not gone well with the ruling BJD and the Opposition Congress and the Left parties. The BJP is the principal Opposition party in the state.

The state executive meets will be held here on December 20 and 21 before the foundation day of the conch party. Senior leader and MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, State Planning Board vice-chairman Sanjay Kumar DasBurma and senior general secretary Atanu Sabyasachi informed that the event will be celebrated in accordance with the COVID guidelines. Mishra said the BJD under the stewardship of Chief Minister and the party supremo Naveen Patnaik, BJD has become the number one regional party in India and added that its popularity will be never on the wane.

BJD is planning big for Foundation Day event Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Sunday announced celebrating its 23rd Foundation Day December 26 across the state from block-level to the urban areas of the state. The party has also planned to hold special meetings of their executive members and the state council where several new members of the organisation will also take part. Party’s vice president Debi Prasad Mishra said, “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the BJD has emerged as one of the strongest regional parties in the country. We have completed 23 years of functioning. Post elections, our new working committees’ meeting will be held December 20. December 21, our state council meeting will be convened.”
