buddies leave, shall we say, a cool frosty adult beverage at the grave site of their friends. this is a place that is full of people, spending their memorial day paying their respects to the fallen, their respects to america s military veterans. it is a scene i m sure is repeated around the country, around towns and cities at so many cemeteries and remembrances on this day. but this, here, at arlington, always, poppy, this is always a very special place on memorial day. poppy? as it should be. barbara starr, thank you for being there for us today. with me now, cnn military analyst, retired major general spider marks, a combat veteran, served more than 30 years around the world, including in south korea, kuwait and iraq. thank you for being here, spider. and also with me is yasine wade, a military widow who lost her husband three years ago when he was deployed overseas, the
unpredictability of it all is unpredictable. leland: fair to say we have not come up with a trump doctrine? i think the formation of the trump doctrine is in place and that, again, i think lanes somewhat on the unpredictability question. to go back to the obamaed a mshgs, you see syrian obama administration, a syrian line drawn f you do this then this. syria commits another chemical attack and obama didn t react to it despite the fact he made the threat. trump did and is taking credit for enforcing obama s red line. if the adversaries say a credible threat can come from a guy that s unpredictable that serves better than making open threats and not living up to them. leland: that is a policy discussion. let s listen to the president at arlington and switch gears a little bit. president trump: they died in war so that we could live in peace.
this friday night of memorial day weekd. a bu day of this young ministraon. two things. a major american figure has passed from the scene tonight. brzezinski died at the age of 89. he was a polish american diplomat and a tough and hawkish cold war your who played a part in peace at camp david and witnessed the unraveling with iran. as president carter s national security adviser. obviously he was part of the extended family of this network and our condolences tonight are with our colleague and friend mika and the entire family. one final reminder, useful for all of us. this coming three-day weekend is about something. it s about taking a moment and remembering as they did with the annual placement of the flags at arlington. remembering those who died in service to their country as volunteers continue to serve in uniform around the globe
gratitude. we miss them with lasting love. that was president george w. bush at a cemetery in normandy talking about the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and we will continue to honor those brave men and women all weekend long. tomorrow from america s news headquarters at 1:00 eastern we will be live from arlington national cemetery where so many people who have served our country have been laid to rest and this weekend is special for their families, so many will come to arlington to visit their loved ones at 1:00 eastern tomorrow and we encourage you to share your feelings on this memorial day weekend, both the celebrations and remembrances using hashtag proud american or on instagram@proudamerican. watch the flag at arlington. we thank our veterans, those who served and came home and does
rain, so obviously people will be preparing for that. security is intense. they have already shut down some major thoroughfares here in downtown washington, d.c. but there is going to be all kinds of festivities today in the run-up. you ve been noting that donald trump is already here, on the way. the president-elect left from new york city just a short time ago, he will be landing in a little bit, and then there is all kinds of a wreath-laying at arlington, then a concert at the lincoln memorial. i spoke to toby keith last night, who is going to be the marquis artist, and he s actually a little mad at some of his fellow artists, who he says there was a big lineup of other people that we ve never heard about who had privately agreed to perform at the lincoln memorial tonight, and backed out when they saw some of these twitter storms on social media about some of the other artists who had agreed, and he thinks there are too many week-need people who should ve just stepped up and perform
