Chiefs appeal to Pres to consider natives for appointments

The chiefs and people of the Asutifi North District in the Ahafo Region, have appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to include their citizens in his political appointments and governance of the country to accelerate development of the area.
According to them, members of the district have voted for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) continually since election 2000, but have nothing to show in terms of appointments and development.
The President of Ahafo Kenyasi Development Association (AKDA), Nana Akwasi Agyeman, at a news conference here at Kenyasi registered their displeasure over recent ministerial appointments by the President Akufo-Addo, said the ‘district deserves better’.

A 20-year-old student of Tepa Senior High School (SHS) has allegedly stabbed a farm labourer to death at Asaman in the Asutifi North District of Ahafo Region.
According to the Asutifi North and South District Police Commander, the deceased named Seidu, 23, was murdered at his home after running an errand.
DSP Paul Ankan indicated that investigations reveal that Seidu had a disagreement with one Ebenezer Opoku, a friend to a shopkeeper when he had visited a store to buy sachet water.
The bone of contention between the two arose when Seidu requested for a polythene bag to hold the large quantity of water he was purchasing.
The Paramount Chief of Kenyasi Number One in Ahafo Region, Nana Osei Kofi Abiri II, has warned his sub-chiefs and residents of his community to stay away from illegal mining (galamsey) in order to avoid incurring his wrath.
Addressing the sub-chiefs, clergy, assembly members, youth leaders and residents at a meeting at his palace, he stated that any sub-chief or resident found guilty of the said practice would be de-stooled and handed over to the law enforcement agencies.
According to Nana Osei Kofi Abiri II, who is also the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs Vice President, he had visited parts of his traditional area where illegal mining was still rampant and was shocked to see the massive way the environment had been degraded.
