+ April 14, 2021 BRANCHES of The Pork Shop will soon carry fresh fruits and vegetables under the Asturias Harvest brand following the joint partnership between Virginia Farms Inc. and the Asturias local government, a top official said.
Virginia Farms said it will be duplicating its buy-back model for hog farmers to local crop farmers in Asturias, Cebu to augment their livelihood.
The firm will buy the fruits and vegetables produced by the farmers at a guaranteed price.
The local government of Asturias, on the other hand, will provide assistance like the initial inputs of seeds and fertilizers and the installation of irrigated water systems.

With its vast fertile land, the municipality of Asturias in western Cebu is aiming to remain a top corn producer in the province as it targets to cater to the high demand of yellow corn, which is a main ingredient in producing animal feeds.
In the recently concluded “Corn Derby” hosted by Virginia Farms, Inc. and Asturias Farms, Inc., Asturias Mayor Jose Antonio T. Pintor said the municipality has been known to be the top producer of yellow corn in Cebu but its production was still not enough to meet the demand of yellow corn in the province.

+ December 11, 2020 THE municipality of Asturias wants to address the high demand for yellow corn, which is a main ingredient in animal feeds.
“Our soil is good for yellow corn and with that, we would like our farmers here to cultivate more of that crop, especially that Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia has encouraged the production of yellow corn,” said Asturias Mayor Jose Antonio Pintor, in a recently concluded Cord Derby hosted by Virginia Farms Inc. and Asturias Farms.
