well, let s bring in cnn s lisa sylvester who has more on this unprecedented view of earth that these astronauts saw. some of them actually were so excited that they were moved to tears. well, yeah, this is as fa nating thing. this is the third and final space walk of endeavour s mission. today, we got an amazing view of earth from the international space station as the astronauts cranked open the shutter thes of the new observation deck and seven windows providing a 360-degree view of the earth. here what we are looking at is looking down at the sahara desert, and this new deck though, it is actually more than a nice view. it has a practical purpose to allow the astronauts to better monitor robotic operations. but we want to do a time situation here, and we want to take a look at what a little bit of time and technology and what a difference it makes. it was 50 years ago, april 1960, that the world got its first television view from space.
