Arturo B. Campos is one step closer to receiving a major posthumous honor in the form of a “moonikin” with his name heading to the moon as he advanced to the finals in NASA’s Name the Artemis Moonikin Challenge on Sunday.
The contest featured eight names which are competing for the honor of being recognized by having a moonikin a mannequin which will also be used to gather data on the vibrations that human crewmembers will experience to bare their name on an upcoming trip to the moon aboard Artemis I. The mission is set to send the first woman and person of color to the lunar surface.
