KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Police crippled an online gambling syndicate following a raid at a luxury condominium unit, which was used as a call centre, in Jalan Tun Razak here early Wednesday (April 21).
In the 12.30am raid, 11 individuals, aged between 19 and 38 years old, including a Chinese national woman who was believed to be the caretaker of the condominium unit, were arrested.
Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Senior Asst Comm Saiful Annuar Yusoff said the centre was found to have been operating for the past two months and raking in profits of up to RM20,000 a day. The syndicate is believed to be promoting online gambling to Chinese nationals at the premises, which was rented for RM10,000 a month, he said when contacted Wednesday.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 214 patrons of an entertainment outlet were issued with compounds for breaching the conditional movement control order.
“They did not practise physical distancing in the outlet, which operated on the pretext of being a restaurant and bar, and was playing loud music, ” said Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief Asst Comm Nasri Mansor.
He said compounds were issued to the patrons, aged between 19 and 38.
“We detained four foreigners during the raid, ” he said when met at the scene in Taman Shamelin Perkasa on Friday night.
