The New Jersey Assembly and Senate introduced a sweeping gun bill on Thursday that would significantly restrict when and where firearms can be carried.
It would also require prospective gun owners to take an "online course of instruction, in-person classroom instruction, and target training."
As part of New Jersey's newly enacted gun safety laws, Attorney General Matthew Platkin announced on Monday the creation of the Statewide Affirmative Firearms Enforcement Office. SAFE will enable the state to file civil lawsuits against gun companies for 'public nuisance' violations impacting New Jersey residents as a form of accountability.
