Catholic Bishops in Burundi, DRC and Rwanda Renew Commitment to Alternative Paths to Peace in Region

“For several decades now, our region has been experiencing a security situation marked by multi-faceted wars that continue to cause millions of deaths, internally displaced people and refugees. We are convinced that the people of Burundi, DR Congo and Rwanda want to live together in security, collaborating with each other and with their governments to put an end to inter-state and inter-community conflicts,” said the Association of Episcopal Conferences of Central Africa (ACEAC) in a statement issued on October 18, 2023.

The president of the Association of Episcopal Conferences of Central Africa (ACEAC) has raised concerns over the continuous mass movements within the three countries; Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo caused by poverty, recurrent insecurity and repeated wars.
