Banana freezer to store up to 40,000 COVID-19 vaccines
The Association of Banana Producers of Colombia (Augura) lent an ultra-freezer to Antioquia s Health System so they can store up to 40,000 vaccines against the coronavirus that will be supplied to the inhabitants of the Banana Axis, which includes the municipalities of Turbo, Apartado, Chigorodo, and Carepa, Uraba.
Uraba is the third region most affected by COVID-19 in Antioquia, accounting for nearly 3% of the department s infected people. To date, some 10,000 inhabitants of this area have been infected, according to a report from the Health Authorities.
The ultra-freezer, which had a cost of 53 million pesos, is in an Augura laboratory. The president of the union met with the mayors of the Banana Axis to finalize the details of the loan.
